Hair Update- Trim

Yesterday I went to my old stylist and being pregnant I decided on a whim to let her trim my hair. And yes! She trimmed too much. I am barely grazing BSL but I must say that my hair looks really nice. I've been pretty lazy with keeping it up myself so I think the trim was necessary because even after my May 15th trim from the other stylist, my ends still looked "chewed". I wanted my hair to look neat this time. I will continue to go to my regular stylist every two weeks but I doubt I will let her trim my hair again anytime this year or next ;-) I guess I haven't really been taking my pregnancy hair seriously because I have no idea how it will react to the pregnancy. I don't want to obsess over it growing long and thick and then be upset that it sheds postpartum. I figure I will get back on my hair game and actively grow it out again after the twins are born ::knock on wood:: if I have time. I will post pictures soon.

11 weeks 2 days- Ultrasound

Today I had another ultrasound with a new doctor. I was able to see the heads and the bodies of both babies. One baby appeared to be sleep while the other was super active. The active baby even showed his hand and foot. It was the most beautiful thing I ever saw. I was super emotional. The doctor said their heart beats sounded fine and I am soo grateful to God. I am really looking forward to becoming a new mommy :)

New Stylist and Hair Update

I decided that I do not want to get relaxers during  my pregnancy so I tried a new stylist on May 15. I was about 12 weeks post relaxer. He washed, applied a reconstructor, conditioned and then had me sit under the hooded dryer. He then had his assistant apply what I believe was a heat protectant and gently blow dry my hair. He then flat ironed or as he called it "silkened" my hair and then trimmed at my request. I'm really grateful for hair dressers who listen to you about your wants. I told him that "I want my hair trimmed but length is important to me". I felt that it was important to say this because many stylist preach "health before length" but I believe there can be a happy medium. He listened to me and only trimmed probably less than an inch. Which was great especially since I had not had a professional trim in several years! I was happy with my hair but I don't know how often I'll go back because he used A LOT of heat. I just scheduled my next appointment for next Tuesday June 12. I figure I will go a few times and see how my hair does since I don't really feel like dealing with it on my own. I don't care if it gets "heat trained/damaged" because I figure that even if I do go natural its unlikely that I'll wear it in its natural kinky state.

9 weeks 2 days- Sickness :(

I have a cold :( Stuffy nose, sneezing and congestion. I read that your body suppresses your immune system when you are pregnant so that your body doesn't reject your babies. Boy is this the case for me.... It might even explain why my  eczema has not "cleared up"... whatever that means. I just came down with eczema in March (before I was pregnant) for the first time in my life. I'm having trouble stopping scratching (My brother said that I need to wear some gloves or bandages like I'm a four year old).  The doctor prescribed me a steroid cream but told me to stop taking it after I found out I was pregnant. Now my skin is discolored and it sucks! I've always prided myself on having clear skin... Oh well. I have a dermatology appointment in a couple of weeks. Let's hope they deal with this.

Today I had organic apple cinnamon oatmeal for breakfast and half an organic grapefruit. For the remainder of the day i had 2 bowls of life cereal with unsweetened almond milk, a spoonful of peanut butter, homemade organic italian wedding soup and ramen noodles with half the packet of seasoning (to cut back on the amount of sodium). I also had am organic pear today. Yikes! This does not look good. I'm going to have to make better choices. The nutritionist said I needed at least 2700 calories per day for this pregnancy but I've been trying to just eat when I'm hungry and stay hydrated.

8 weeks 6 days

Today I was extremely exhausted at work. It could be a combination of my being pregnant and the fact that work is pretty slow at my job.  I've been having an issue with my breathing where it is difficult for me to take a satisfying deep breath. This issue has occurred since I was a child and doctor's never seemed to find anything wrong. Oh well... All I can do is keep praying and searching...

Today and yesterday I had some mild cramping which I believe is due to my uterus stretching. It was kind of cool to experience this and mostly everything that comes with pregnancy (except for the mood swings). I was in the kitchen day dreaming about starting family traditions like baking cookies during the holidays or my kids helping me cook. I am really looking forward to meeting my babies!

8 Weeks 4 Days Pregnant

Yesterday was an interesting day. I was certainly feeling pregnant. I was exhausted at work and could barely keep my eyes open. When I got home DH and I decided to watch a movie (Man on a Ledge) and I think I went to the bathroom every 15 minutes, no exaggeration... On another note, I decided to try a new prenatal pill because I was tired of  the gummies with the bad after taste. And because I read that I needed to increase my folic acid intake because of the twins. The only prenatal I could find with 1000 mcg of folate was "Simply One Prenatal Power Vitamins." It appears to have great reviews online. Many women claim that its the only vitamin that did not cause them to puke. They are horse pills which aren't the most fun to consume but they are full of nutrients.

I've been trying my best to eat healthy. So far, Today I had a bowl of sprouted amaranth cereal with an organic banana and almond milk. I also had half an organic grapefruit and a bit of organic applesauce. I'm am finding a lot of pleasure in eating healthy for my twins:)
